Jenny Alario

Director of Auxiliary Programming | Summer at AIS Camp Director

Jenny, the Director of Auxiliary Programming, oversees after school and summer programming as well as facilities rentals at The Agnes Irwin School. She draws on over 15 years of summer camp experience, having worked as a site director, recruiter, trainer, personnel director, specialty teacher, and counselor, to create the most satisfying experiences for each camper that attends Summer at AIS. From programming to promotion, staffing to daily operation, Jenny is actively involved in all aspects of
Summer at AIS.

Jenny also brings previous teaching and theatrical experience to her role at The Agnes Irwin School. Prior educational experience at the university level includes positions in the Communication and Theatre Departments of Villanova University, Penn State University, and West Chester University. A former performer herself, she has also worked as a theatre director and teacher for middle and high school students in the greater Philadelphia area. Jenny is a two-time graduate of Villanova University, a devoted wife and mom to two daughters, and the owner of a rambunctious chocolate lab.

Montserrat was born in Spain and lived there most of her life. While living in Spain she attended law school and was a sailing instructor for many years. Once relocated to the US, she earned a BA in Liberal Arts. She has been teaching Spanish to children for the past eight years as well as tutoring different age groups. Montserrat has been teaching at AIS since 2011.

In 2014, she was appointed President of Círculo Español de Filadelfia, a PA non-profit organization that supports and promotes social, recreational, and cultural relations between the Spaniards and Spain-loving community in the Greater Philadelphia area and the U.S./Spanish governments.

Angela Sulzer, AIS Music Academy

Angela Sulzer began her career as a violinist at the age of nine and has gone on to perform as a solo, chamber, and orchestral musician around the United States, Europe, and China. In addition to directing string programs at The Agnes Irwin School and Maestro Kids, Angela is senior faculty of the PRYSM Orchestra, teaching artist for The Philadelphia Orchestra, and member violinist of Prometheus Chamber Orchestra in Philadelphia. When she is not performing or teaching, Angela spends her free time studying cookbooks and entertaining her pint-sized cat.

Lisa has been part of the Summer at AIS program for almost 7 years at The Agnes Irwin School. Lisa provides year-round support in the operations of the Auxiliary Programming office including bookkeeping, billing, and schedule management. She also maintains regular contact with our families to answer questions about our summer programs. She is available to support you and our campers in creating a successful and smooth camp experience!

Janet Bartholdson Fry has been the assistant Varsity Crew coach at Agnes Irwin for the past three years, and enjoys teaching this lifelong sport to newcomers and experienced athletes alike. She learned to row while a student at Agnes Irwin and continued the sport in college at Duke University. Janet recently finished her second year teaching Middle School History at AIS, and worked in the AIS Development Office for two years prior to this.

Lauren Hoopes is a fitness enthusiast that has a passion for leading a healthy lifestyle and assisting others to do the same! She has an education background in Exercise Physiology and Health and Physical Education, along with being a certified Spinning Instructor, Cardio-Kickboxing Instructor, and AAAI/ISMA Certified Personal Trainer. Lauren is a former collegiate level volleyball player and is currently a Physical Education and Wellness Teacher and coach at The Agnes Irwin School. Lauren has experience personal training all ages, working with small groups and teams, as well as teaching Spinning and Cardio-Kickboxing classes.

During the school year, Melanie Slezak is a Kindergarten teacher at the Agnes Irwin School. Melanie brings over 30 years of teaching experience to Camp Wise Owl. Knowing that young students benefit from a variety of opportunities to explore, create and interact with activities, Camp Wise Owl provides a warm and caring environment with a routine that is predictable and deliberately structured for summer fun and learning.

Amelia is a second grade teacher at AIS, born and raised in Atlanta, GA.While in Atlanta, she was a math and science teacher for three years and has always had a passion for STEM. Amelia can’t wait to share that passion with our campers and have a fun, STEM-tastic summer!

Alex Stait, Boys' and Girls' Squash

Boys' and Girls' Squash

Alex has been Director of Squash at AIS for 4 years, guiding the program to grow into one of the top teams in the country. He is also the Head National Coach for the USA Junior Boys team that finished a record 3rd in the World Championships in Poland in 2016. Alex was ranked in the top 50 in the world as a professional player on the world tour. He looks forward to welcoming new players into Summer at AIS and passing on his enthusiasm for the game.

Kathy Seaton, Camp Little Owl

Camp Little Owl

Kathy Seaton, PreKindergarten teacher at the Agnes Irwin School, leads the Camp Little Owl program. Beginning from the time she was in college, she has designed and led summer recreational programs for young children. As a mother of five and a long time Girl Scout leader, she brings a wealth of experience with arts and crafts, games, songs, stories, cooking activities, and special events to the planning for CLO. Mrs. Seaton looks forward all year to joining the Little Owls for lots of fun and excitement.
